Youth

CUMC Youth Ministry

Who?

For all students in grades 6-12.

Why?

Why send your students to CUMC’s Youth Ministry?  Because we’re focused on helping young men and women understand and live out Jesus’ greatest commandment: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind...and to love your neighbor as yourself."  (Matthew 22:37-39)

We want to see a generation of youth fall so deeply in love with the Lord that they can't help but follow Him.  We also want to love one another so well that we become a safe environment for all of our "neighbors" to meet the Lord.

Students are faced with hundreds of choices before they leave home, some of which have very serious consequences.  Rather than teach them “rules” of godly faith, we want to introduce them to Jesus Himself.  We believe that if we truly understand how He loves us, then we can’t help but make choices that love Him back.

When?

Sunday School:  Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:45 a.m. in the Youth SS room

We are currently spending the year getting better acquainted with Jesus through the Gospels’ account of His life, death and resurrection.  He’s not just a character in a book from a long time ago.  We want our students to understand how vital and relevant He is to their lives every moment. This Bible study time is taught by rotating adult leaders.

MYF:  Sunday nights from 5-7 p.m. beginning in the Social Hall

This time of food, fellowship, worship and teaching features topic-driven talks firmly grounded in scripture.  This is a great time to get to know new people and encourage each other.  If you’re new to CUMC Youth Ministry, this is a great place to get started!

Small Groups:  Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:15 p.m.

Following family night supper, we divide into small groups by age and gender to dive deep into the Bible.  These groups offer a safe environment for students to engage in discussion, ask questions and hold each other accountable.  All groups are led by committed adult leaders with hearts for helping students not just know about God, but develop into transformed disciples.

Prayer Breakfast:  Friday mornings from 7-7:40 a.m. in the Warehouse

Prayer is foundational to everything we do in the Youth Ministry.  We want students to be comfortable personally speaking to their Lord, so we offer a time for them to drop in and pray together or alone.
